Winter Learning Journey: Day 1 - Activity 1 and 2

Day 1 - Activity 1 - New Zealand Facts

Go to the Tourism New Zealand website and click on the ‘Facts - New Zealand People’ tab. Read about the people of New Zealand and then choose three interesting facts to post on your blog. The facts must be written in your own words. Do not simply copy and paste the facts from the website☺.
Fact 1 - Rugby is the most popular sport in New Zealand. Also The Legendary All Blacks winning the Rugby World Cup for 2015. Though the sport originated in England, in New Zealand, rugby is the right sport for big men and boys.
Fact 2 - New Zealand’s European pioneers were also brave, rugged and independent people. Before beginning farms they had to first clear the heap of land - a very dangerous activity sometimes . Their Isolation and exposure to the this work, forced these early New Zealanders to become hardy and very talented people.
Fact 3 - With the long history of Māori, European, Pacific Island and Asian cultures, New Zealand has become a big population - but one with something’s that make it different to other people in the world.
Day 1 - Activity 2 - Tourist Video -
Your tour of New Zealand is going to start right here in Auckland. Watch the Tourist video for Auckland to learn about the awesome things that you can see and do in the city. Once you’ve finished, choose your favourite five activities from the video and list them on your blog.

1st Favourite - I would go to Waitakere Ranges, I choose Waitakere Ranges because I haven’t been there and second because by the pictures It looked beautiful and I can just Imagine going there looking at the different plants.
2nd Favourite - I would go to Piha, because it is beyond amazing and also I have not been there, It just looks so fun for you and your family to go to for the holidays.
3rd Favourite -  The museum, I have been to the museum but its just so fun to go back there again! It’s an awesome adventure for you and your family.
4th Favourite  - Rainbow’s End Another great adventure for the family and also for you to have fun and spend birthdays at! I have been there many times and I would go back there again.
5th Favourite - Auckland Domain, I chose this one because It is a place to relax and look at the beautiful flowers and thing put out there for you to look at.

    1. Kia ora Joseph and Telesia - I couldn't agree more, Telesia. I, too, really enjoyed reading through all of the facts that you posted, Joseph. It is so important that we remember and show respect for our ancestors, the original founders of New Zealand and those who currently live in this interesting country. It is a true 'melting pot' of different people who have come from various countries all around the world. I think that we are quite lucky to live in such a diverse place!

Keep up the great work, Joseph, and the great commenting Telesia :)

      Cheers,
      Rachel

  2. Kia ora Joseph and welcome back to the holiday blogging programme. It is so great to be blogging with you once again :)

I hope that you enjoyed learning a bit about New Zealand's history as well as the beautiful areas that you can visit right here in Auckland. I actually live on the west side of Auckland very close to the Waitakere Ranges and to Piha Beach. I would highly recommend going to both places as they are incredibly stunning. The native bush is so interesting to walk through and the beaches are out of this world!

If you'd like to learn more about the beautiful beaches of the west coast, please go to Day #2 of the programme. There you will be introduced to Karekare beach, my all-time favourite west coast beach!

Hope to see you online again soon,

    Rachel :)
